The May Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Linda of make life sweeter! and Courtney of Coco Cooks. They chose Apple Strudel from the recipe book Kaffeehaus: Exquisite Desserts from the Classic Cafés of Vienna, Budapest and Prague by Rick Rodgers.
For this month's challenge, I was meant to make apple strudels but somehow my apple mixture didn't turn out like expected so i had to use something else for the filling. The only thing that was left in my fridge was cream cheese! Ta-dah! I then decide to go with plain cream cheese strudel.
There you go:-
Rating: D (This challenge was a big failure to me cause my pastry and filling didn't quite turn out right or expected)
Although i cannot host a morning tea myself but this year i've decided to donate some of my cupcakes (free of course!) to others who are holding the event at their business, community and etc. I wish them all good luck for the event! :)
I'm making a massive 350 cupcakes!! My very great helper Jan Nee (the one who inpires me to bake and does heaps of baking herself) and I are going to work all night Tuesday and all day Wednesday
To those of you that i couldn't help out, perhaps next year, if i get more helpers, i would be able to provide more free cupcakes for the event!
The cupcake toppers (i made like 350 of these! that's how busy i was)
Baby teapot with chocolate cuppie
Vanilla and rose water frosting cuppie with my attempt of daffodils
Vanilla and rose water cuppie with yummie little marshmallow tops
Your question must be "What's been going on in the kitchen this week with Lilia? "
Well, basically i've been busy trying to get some ideas for H's bonbonniere. I can say that more things have been going on inside my brain than in my kitchen! *laughs*
H's wedding is not till Oct but I just thought i'll try out some of my ideas before presenting it to her. Also the fact that i can't wait to put my ideas into action.
H has requested for strawberries or cake pops as the bon-bon and her theme colors are red and white which helps match the strawberries color. We both liked the idea of having a tin pail decorated with either strawberries or cake pops and that also helps give the guest table a color boost. It's like a multifunction bon-bon. Table decoration and bon-bon as well! Definitely a $$ saving option :)
I've used several backgrounds in these pictures:-
First up- Strawberries with fondant roses
Black and white shot
Cake pops with roses
Cake pops in a heart weave basket
Or would you prefer plain cake pops with the rose?

Anyone who is visiting this site , please let me know what you think and feel free to give me more ideas :)
